HCF is committed to supporting the oral health of all Australians, no matter where they live. As a major national partner of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) and advocate for preventive health, this Dental Health Week we're proud to contribute to support initiatives that make a difference to communities across the country. About us
For over 90 years, our members have trusted us to protect their health and wellbeing, and in return we’ve provided quality cover and healthcare that’s right for them. Because as Australia’s largest not-for-profit health fund, we believe in delivering our members a level of care that’s uncommon. From humble beginnings in 1932, we’ve grown to become the nation’s largest not-for-profit health fund, helping to protect the health and wellbeing of over 1.8 million Australians with health, life, travel or pet insurance. And we remain constant to our not-for-profit charter, continuing to provide the highest standard of healthcare while returning more benefits to our members. We’re also proud of our many industry firsts. Over the years, we’ve been at the forefront of healthcare innovation, from introducing the first multicover plan to “cover the gap” in extras services, to opening one of the first health fund operated dental centre networks and launching Australia’s first on-demand injury cover*. Because we believe in making healthcare understandable, affordable and high quality for our members, they’re empowered to make informed decisions about their health. Through the HCF Catalyst program, we continue to invest in the future of Australia’s health by supporting small businesses with big ideas, and fund researchers working to improve health outcomes for all Aussies through the HCF Research Foundation. We’re also committed to investing in the health and wellbeing of our staff. At HCF, we value diversity, inclusion and equality in the workplace, and are dedicated to creating a working culture where staff can flourish. We believe that giving employees a safe, healthy and sustainable work environment is a priority. * Issued by HCF Life. Consider the PDS and TMD at getflip.com.au.

We were proud to support the Patients Australia Annual Awards last Friday—an evening that shines a light on people and organisations making a real difference in the lives of patients and carers. HCF sponsored the Outstanding Patient Education Award, which recognises those who are helping people better understand their health and make informed decisions about their care. Our Head of the HCF Research Foundation, Dr Christopher Pettigrew, presented the award and reflected on why this work matters: “At HCF, we believe informed patients are better equipped to take charge of their health and achieve better outcomes. Education is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen patient voice—and it’s a privilege to recognise those making health information more accessible, inclusive, and impactful.” Congratulations to all the finalists and winners—and a special thanks to Professor Denise O'Connor from Monash University for serving alongside Chris as a judge. #PatientsAustralia #HCF #HealthLiteracy #PatientEmpowerment #HCFResearchFoundation

Our Member Health team was proud to participate in the Australian Podiatry Conference at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre recently. Over 3 days, we engaged in dynamic discussions, listened to expert insights and attended a large trade exhibition. The conference featured keynote speakers and presenters from across Australia and around the world. We were thrilled to have our very own Krissy Kau and James Bernauer present on the first day to encourage podiatrists to join our popular More for Feet program, which offers eligible members an initial no-gap podiatry consultation. The team highlighted the benefits of our health programs and health management initiatives, designed to support our members in better managing chronic diseases, as well as some exciting research opportunities from our Research Foundation. We explored potential partnership opportunities to enhance health outcomes for our members and promoted our collaboration with Netball Australia through an interactive netball shooting activation. A big thank you to Australian Podiatry Association and all the podiatrists who took the time to engage with us during the conference. Your dedication and insights are invaluable as we work together to improve patient care and the health of our members. #PodConf25 #UnleashingPotential #HCF

We recently celebrated the 50-year anniversary of NAIDOC Week, honouring the 2025 theme "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy". Our focus was not only the achievements of the past but also the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young leaders, their vision of their communities and the legacy of their ancestors. To support this important occasion, our Hearts & Hands Employee Reference Group (ERG) hosted a special hybrid event at our Sydney head office with Uncle Laurie, an Elder from Wannangini and Dharug country. Uncle Laurie shared his stories and taught us about traditional tools and artefacts. We learned about his pivotal role in the return of sacred Indigenous artefacts from the British museum – a journey of cultural healing and resilience. It was an inspiring and educational experience that deepened our appreciation for the rich cultural heritage and the ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. #NAIDOC2025 #HCF
